Hi, my name is Joanna and I’m a Graphic Designer based in Boston who is passionate about telling memorable stories and building strong relationships through my design practice. I love incorporating illustration, hand-lettering, motion graphics, and most importantly *humor* into my work whenever possible. Even as a child I loved experimenting with typography, and spent a lot of time designing greeting cards, comics, and storybooks for my friends and family members. I didn’t realize it at the time, but that was the start of my life-long love of design.
My professional career began in theatrical set & prop design, and through that work I discovered how satisfying it was to solve complex problems through detailed research and conceptual design thinking. My interest in user experience and user interface design is very much inspired by that work; I had to ask myself, what problem am I really trying to solve? How will the user interact with this object? How can I push the envelope to make something new and better? Several years later, I have completed my Master’s degree at Suffolk University (September 2019), and I have more than 5 years of experience working as a creative marketing professional under my belt. I’m excited to bring my formal design education, my client-focused background in marketing, and my passion for problem-solving into my professional design practice.
When I’m not designing you can find me listening to true crime podcasts, snuggling with my rescue dog Ozzy, or playing complicated board games with friends.
